Why People Choose to Get Sober Here
Brentwood isn't where most people picture a recovery house, and that's the point.
There is no nightlife strip. No bar district to walk past on the way home. What there is instead is a residential neighborhood pressed against the Santa Monica Mountains, where the loudest thing on a Tuesday night is someone walking a dog. In the first few months of sobriety, an environment that asks nothing of you is worth more than one full of things to resist.
It is also not isolated. Westwood is ten minutes south, Santa Monica fifteen minutes west, and the whole Westside meeting network is a short drive away. Quiet without being cut off is a hard combination to find in Los Angeles, and Brentwood has it.
Who This Page Is For
You might be reading this for yourself. You might be reading it for a son, a partner, or a parent, doing the research they aren't ready to do.
Either way, what we can tell you is straightforward. We take residents 18 and older who are sober on arrival and willing to live by house rules. Most arrive from a treatment program or detox. Some are in outpatient care and need a stable place to sleep. Some have a few months behind them and want structure before trying it alone.
We cannot detox anyone or provide treatment. If that is where things are right now, call anyway. We will tell you where to start.
AA and NA Meetings Around Brentwood
Brentwood holds its own meeting schedule, and the surrounding neighborhoods fill in whatever they can cover.
The Brentwood Big Book Study, which has been meeting locally for years
Meetings at 12000 San Vicente Blvd, minutes from the house
The Westwood and West LA rooms, ten minutes south, running most hours of the day
Santa Monica meetings, including large speaker meetings, fifteen minutes west
Al-Anon groups throughout West LA and Santa Monica for family members
Residents may take an Uber once a day to AA meetings, which keeps a three-meeting-a-week expectation realistic for someone who arrived without a car.
Coffee, Errands, and Somewhere to Sit
Early recovery involves a lot of hours that need somewhere to go. Brentwood is well supplied with places to sit with a sponsor, do step work, or just be around people without a drink in your hand.
Brentwood Village at Barrington and Sunset, walkable from the house, with a market, restaurants, and coffee
Caffe Luxxe and Coral Tree Cafe along San Vicente, both a short drive south
The Brentwood Country Mart, an open-air spot that is easy to meet someone at
Vicente Foods and Whole Foods on San Vicente for groceries
Trails, Parks, and the San Vicente Median
Brentwood sits where the city runs into the mountains, which makes getting outside every day unusually easy.
The coral tree median down the center of San Vicente, a shaded stretch that runners use from dawn onward
Barrington Recreation Center on Barrington Ave, with a park, courts, and an open field
Canyon trails at the north end of the neighborhood, including Sullivan and Kenter, for longer hikes
The Getty Center, minutes north and free to visit, a good way to spend a Saturday that costs nothing
None of this is a program. It is just what a stable week can look like when the neighborhood cooperates.
Working In and Around Brentwood
Every resident works, goes to school, or volunteers. Brentwood makes that manageable without a long commute.
Restaurants, retail, and services along San Vicente and in Brentwood Village
Hospitals, clinics, and university jobs around UCLA and Westwood, ten minutes down Sepulveda
Hotels, restaurants, and offices in Santa Monica, a straight shot west on San Vicente

Eric has been in the Los Angeles recovery community a long time and knows which employers in this part of the city have hired people in recovery and treated them decently. Sometimes the useful thing is a name and a number.
Buses, Rides, and Getting to Appointments
Brentwood has no rail service. That is worth saying plainly rather than discovering later.
What it has is bus coverage along Wilshire, San Vicente, Bundy, and Barrington, connecting to Santa Monica, Westwood, Mar Vista, and West LA. Residents get to jobs, therapy, and outpatient programs from here every day without a vehicle.
Ubers to PHP and IOP appointments are also available, which closes the gap the buses leave.
What the Rate Covers on Barrington
Rent is one number, and it covers what usually shows up as separate bills elsewhere. Groceries for breakfast and lunch. Every utility. Internet, laundry, detergent, linens, toiletries. Weekly testing. A house manager who lives in the home.
The Barrington house also has an indoor jacuzzi, which none of our other homes do. See the full list of what is included at every home.
Paying for Sober Living in Brentwood
Brentwood is an expensive part of Los Angeles, and people reasonably assume a house here costs more than one somewhere else.
Our rate is not set by the zip code. Eric sets it based on what a person can realistically pay, which is why no figure is printed on this page. If the number is the thing standing between you and a bed, say so on the call. That conversation goes better than people expect.
Bringing Family Into It
Many of the calls we get about Brentwood come from family rather than the person who needs the bed.
If that is you, two things are worth knowing. Visitors are welcome during designated hours, approved in advance, and sober on the premises, so staying involved is straightforward. And Al-Anon meetings run throughout West LA and Santa Monica, which matters more than most families expect at the start.
You can call and ask questions without committing anyone to anything. Eric answers his own phone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sober Living Near Brentwood
Do you have a sober living home in Brentwood?
Yes. Solstice Recovery 3 is at 110 N Barrington Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90049. Call or text 310-340-2975 to ask about openings or arrange a walkthrough.
Is Brentwood a good neighborhood for early recovery?
It is one of the better ones. There is no bar district, the streets are residential, and the trails and the San Vicente median make it easy to build a daily routine. Meetings are close, without the house sitting in the middle of anything loud.
Do I need a car to live at the Brentwood house?
No. Brentwood has no rail, but buses run along Wilshire, San Vicente, Bundy, and Barrington. On top of that, residents may take an Uber once a day to AA meetings and Ubers to PHP and IOP appointments.
What does the monthly rate include?
Food for breakfast and lunch, every utility, WiFi, laundry and detergent, bedding, linens, toiletries, weekly testing, a live-in house manager, and rides to meetings and treatment appointments. The Brentwood house also has an indoor jacuzzi.
How long do residents stay?
A year is the common arc. There is no ceiling, and nobody is asked to leave for staying too long. We suggest 90 days as the floor, because that is roughly when the routines stop feeling like effort.
Can I keep seeing my own therapist and doctor?
Yes, and we would prefer it. Residents keep their own providers and their own appointments. Our job is to make sure the house schedule never gets in the way of that. If you need a therapist or a prescriber, we will refer you to people we trust.
What are the house rules?
Stay sober. Submit to random weekly testing. Get to your meetings. Show up for the weekly house meeting. Do your chores. Work, go to school, or volunteer. Be in by curfew.
