Sober Living in Los Angeles

Three Homes on the Los Angeles Westside

Los Angeles has one of the strongest recovery communities in the country. Thousands of 12-step meetings a week, outpatient programs in every direction, and enough people in recovery that you are never the only one in the room.

Solstice Recovery runs three sober living homes on the Westside, in Culver City, Venice, and Brentwood. All three sit in quiet residential neighborhoods with real access to work, meetings, and treatment. Call (818) 462-1910, and we will tell you which one fits.

Is Sober Living Your Next Step?

Solstice Recovery is for residents 18 and older who are serious about staying sober and ready for a structured, peer-supported home. Most residents arrive along one of a few paths:

  • Stepping down from inpatient treatment or detox

  • Finishing or currently enrolled in a PHP or IOP

  • Early in recovery and needing structure and community to stay on track

  • Returning to Los Angeles from out-of-state treatment and looking for a steady landing spot

  • Coming off a relapse and wanting a firmer foundation this time

We are not a treatment center, a detox, or a hospital. We are a sober living community built on peer support, the 12 Steps, and day-to-day accountability. When a resident needs clinical care, we refer them to trusted providers across Los Angeles.

Choosing Between Our Three Sober Living Homes

All three run the same way. Same house rules, same weekly testing, same live-in house manager, same amenities. What differs is where you wake up.

  • Culver City is the most central, near the studios and the Metro E Line, with more than fifty meetings a week within three miles

  • Venice puts residents near the beach and one of the densest meeting schedules in Los Angeles

  • Brentwood is the quietest, tucked against the Santa Monica Mountains, and it has an indoor jacuzzi

If you are not sure which fits, call, and we will talk it through honestly.

Recovery Meetings Across the Westside

Wherever you land, there is a meeting within a short ride, most hours of the day.

  • Westside Alano Club, a long-standing hub with multiple daily meetings

  • Culver City Alano Club, minutes from our Culver City home

  • Pacific Group, known for large, structured meetings and a strong sponsorship culture

  • Venice Recovery Center on Lincoln Blvd, a dedicated AA clubhouse running meetings every day

  • Brentwood Big Book Study and the meetings on San Vicente Blvd

  • Al-Anon meetings throughout Mar Vista, Venice, and West LA for family members

Residents may take an Uber once a day to AA meetings, so getting there does not depend on owning a car.

Sober-Friendly Places Around Our Homes

Recovery works better when your days are full of places that support it. A few near each house:

  • Cognoscenti Coffee and Bar Nine near Culver City, both good for step work or meeting a sponsor

  • Alana’s Coffee Roasters on Venice Blvd, a small-batch roaster with a relaxed feel

  • Caffe Luxxe and Coral Tree Cafe along San Vicente in Brentwood

  • The Brentwood Country Mart, a low-key place to meet someone

  • The San Vicente median in Brentwood, one of the best-known jogging routes in the city

Coffee Shops & Community Spaces in Los Angeles

Sobriety isn’t only about what you leave behind—it’s also about finding new ways to connect, recharge, and enjoy life. In Palms, you’ll discover plenty of recovery-friendly coffee shops and local hangouts:

  • Cognoscenti Coffee – Known for its strong brews and calm atmosphere, perfect for step work or meeting with a sponsor.

  • The Coffee Connection (West L.A.) – A recovery-friendly coffeehouse that often hosts events and is a popular post-meeting hangout.

  • Clover Park – Great for exercise, meditation, or just enjoying some fresh air.

  • Veterans Memorial Park – A nearby green space for walks, reflection, or community connection.

These spaces make it easy to stay social, productive, and balanced without relying on old habits.

Healthy Living in Los Angeles

Sustainable sobriety is easier when you take care of your body and mind. Palms offers plenty of resources to help those in recovery build healthy routines:

  • Trader Joe’s (National Blvd) – Affordable, nutritious groceries to keep your kitchen stocked.

  • Erewhon (Culver City) – High-quality organic foods and supplements for clean living.

  • YogaWorks (Playa Vista) – Group yoga classes to reduce stress and build strength.

  • CorePower Yoga – Accessible classes for beginners and advanced practitioners.

  • Ballona Creek Bike Path – A scenic spot for jogging, biking, or clearing your head.

Prioritizing fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness not only strengthens your recovery but also helps you rebuild a life that feels good from the inside out.

 What Your Rent Covers

One number covers everything. Food, all utilities, WiFi, laundry, linens, toiletries, weekly testing, and a live-in house manager. Residents may also take an Uber once a day to AA meetings and rides to PHP and IOP appointments.

That last part is unusual. Most sober living homes leave transportation to you, which quietly makes a car a requirement. See the full list of what is included at every home.

What Sober Living Costs in Los Angeles

Rates vary widely depending on location, level of support, and what's included. Two homes quoting the same number can differ by hundreds of dollars once you add groceries, utilities, and transportation.

Our rate depends on your situation. Eric works with people based on what they can afford, which is why we don't post a single number here.

Call (818) 462-1910 and he will tell you what your first month would look like and exactly what it covers.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sober Living in Los Angeles

How long do people stay in sober living?

Most residents stay about a year. There is no maximum stay, as long as you follow the program. We recommend at least 90 days to build a foundation, and the people who do best are usually the ones who stay longer than planned.

Do I need to be employed?

Every resident works, attends school, or volunteers. If you arrive without a job, we help with resumes, interview prep, and finding work that fits around meetings. Most residents who come in unemployed are working within their first month or two.

Can I have visitors?

Family and friends can visit during designated hours. All visitors must be approved in advance and sober on the premises.

What happens if I relapse?

Honesty comes first. We look at each situation individually. Depending on what is going on, a resident may need to complete detox or treatment before returning to the house.

Is this licensed sober living in California?

California does not license sober living homes, which is worth understanding when you compare options. What matters is how a house actually runs: whether a house manager lives on site, whether testing happens consistently, and whether the rules get enforced. We are glad to walk you through exactly how we operate.

Do you accept insurance?

We work with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Net, Anthem, and other private insurance carriers. Coverage varies by plan and situation, so call, and Eric will walk you through it.
